"Merry Christmas" 49andMarket and The Dusty Attic DT creation for November

Hello and welcome friends.
Well I am sure that we are all feeling it ..... the festive season, it's already upon us. We here in Australia have been seeing it in the shops for the past month already. So I thought it only fitting, also since I received two fabulous goodies boxes last week one from Miss Jennifer Hedger containing the most gorgeous of all Christmas chipboards ever the New Releases for October.
So here it is......

"Merry Christmas"

I have used this gorgeous photo of my two eldest from a Christmas a long time ago. These two have now graduated school and are out in the big old world doing their own things. So when I think of Christmas these days, I always seem to revert back to when the kids were much younger. Back when I use to dress them up and make them sit for an hour to get that one photo to put on the front of the yearly letter to all those that we would send out Christmas cards too. My poor kids. Well they survived all those Christmas photos, but lets just say these days it is a rare occassion to get a photo of them together at all on Christmas Day.
So about the layout. ........ My second goodies box that I received last week was the new release papers from 49andMarket and they were of course a Christmas collection and it is stunning!

Snowdrift

Salutations

So that is where I started with the cutting and framing and layering of my new release 49andMarket papers. I then went on to do some stencilling. The background of these papers are just gorgeous but I thought it best to change up the snowflakes to stars since it is a very rare occurence that we would see snow here in sunny Queensland. I used some paper texture paste through the Dusty Attic Starry Night Stencil. This really has to be a favourite stencil. I have used it a number of times and it really is the perfect stencil to add softness to a layout.

I then went on to add the matting and photo which I decided to photoshop a little. The kids clothing was very very bright and I felt it didn't grab you when you looked at it. I then added in my flowers and dusted them a little with white gesso and some Star Dust Stickles to make them sparkle. I also added some of the Star Dust Stickles over the top of the textured stars when they were dried. I have also change the centres of the flowers with gold. You can see below.

I also used some of the Dusty Attic Rhinestones and changed them up a little as you can see above. I added them firstly to the layout then gave them a couple of coats of white gesso. Once dry I add some gold over the top. And then once that dried I added over some Star Dust Stickles to make them shine too.

49andMarket Flowers Used for this project;

The Cosmic Swirl that you see above was firstly dressed in white gesso. Once it was absolutely dried I swiped over the frame with a gold acrylic paint. Any unwanted areas I just wiped away. I did this a few times until I got the depth of the colour where I wanted it. Once this dried I then added in some Star Dust Stickles to make it shine once again.

The reindeer you can see above was primed with white gesso and coloured with gold Acrylic paint. I did swipe some white gesso back over it at the end as it was quite stark.

And this gorgeous Scroll Set I used to start and end the embellishment of my flowers. They are just gorgeous little adds to a Christmas layout I think. These I dressed in white acrylic and I added a very thick layer of Star Dust Stickles so they poppped. You can also see that I have added in a little lace just to soften the layout some more.

Well that is all from me today! I hope you have enjoyed my first festive layout.
Until next time take care and happy scrapping.

"She loves him, and he, her" - Papericious Design Team Creation - November Challenge

Hello and a very warm welcome to you! I am with you today to share my very first blogpost using the gorgeously stunning Papericious "Fluer Fun" collection.
When I received this collection I was taken away by the colours of it. I am not usually a brights girl but this got me to thinking about the Festive Challenge also this month. And I thought that maybe I could get a headstart with my Christmas Creating. Every Christmas I create a couple of layout projects for a relative or friend as some extra for their parcel. The grandparents always relish a layout of one of the children and in the case is it one of the children with a pet friend who we treat like one of the family. For this project I have titled it

"She loves him and he, her".....

I was truly taken aback with the sheets of florals and you guessed it, I went ahead and fussy cut a lot of the sheets to give me the base for my layout.

So along with the sheets of fabulous florals and leaves I also used the plain pink sheet as my background page. This I trimed the sides at the left and right and added a little strip of the pretty green polkadots behind each side. These pieces were sanded a little too. I love to show a bit of the white core of the papers for my projects to give them that shabbiness. So I also primed my background with Clear Gesso. And left this to dry. Once dry I did a little sponging using the Papericious Natural White Chalk Paint. This went on just beautifully with a sponge and I wiped excess away with a baby wipe at the end not to cover every part of the pattern.

I started firstly with my Portrait 4 x 6 inch colour photo of my youngest daughter and our gorgeous boy "Gru". This was matted with some of the leftover green polkadot papers. Again the edges were sanded and I also popped this up on a couple of layers of 3D foam tape.
The Pearl Pink Chalk paint was used to give some highlights to the frame work of my layout. I ran my finger over the outer edges of the layout with the Pearl Pink firstly then I went over it with a little of the Natural White.

All of the layers of the fussy cut floral and leaves were distressed a little and I also did some sanding to give the look of shabby chic again.

Here you can see some of the layers. There are quite a few. I also added in some of the fabulous Papericious Chippis. A collaged pattern that I turned on its side. So rather than looking like a square it looks like a diamond of sorts. This was dressed in the Natural White Paint Chalk. I gave it two coats and then went over it with some Star Dust Stickles to make it shimmer. I also added in some distressed pieces of white muslin to create more layers to my project.

And here you can see that I have also added in some strips of the green Polkadots. The edges were sanded and distressed and I hot glued these in place to sit over the foliage as seen above.

And from another view. You will also notice that I added in a little random stamping using a script stamp with some Walnut Distress Ink. This adds to the dimension some more and also brings out some of the browns in my daughters hair also. Above you may be able to see that I have added the Star Dust Stickles to the yellow centres of the flowers. Just addes a nice touch I think.

Well that is it. My Festive creation for this months challenge. I hope you have enjoyed my first post.
Until next time take care.

"Sweet" Art Playground Blog Design Team project for November

 Hello and welcome.

My project today was inspired by the gorgeous moodboard below. Stunning to say the least!  The Art Playground's November mood board with the colors pink, bordeaux and green and the fabulous theme "finishing touch" or " never ending story" inspired me to create this layout - "Sweet". For this project I have used a very cute photo of my youngest daughter some years ago at a school Easter parade.  Too cute huh?

I absolutely adore this moodboard. So many possibilities to run with.  I chose to do something very soft and pretty. I built my layout on a background of green stripes with some textures through a stencil and colouring of my page with acrylic paints and random stamping. I used Dusty Attic Chipboards, Flowers, Leaves and Acetate Accents to help embellish and build dimension and layers.

Some of the products used to design my background were:

49andMarket Cottage Life Garland B side

Dusty Attic Clear Crackle
and Dusty Attic Texture Paste
Dusty in Colour Dusty Pink

All my beautiful Dusty Attic Chipboards were dressed coloured with Bundled Sage distress ink then covered with Crackle Paint and allowed to dry. I then reinked randomly and applied Dusty Attic's Clear Crackle and allowed this to dry.

The theme "Finishing Touches" for this month is perfect for this layout for me. Sometimes and it happens more than not, that I get to a point in my creating where I have to take some time out and leave the project. Sometimes overnight, sometimes for days. Then I come back to my table and look at my project with fresh eyes. That is when I do my finishing touches. This time around my finishing touches were extra random stamping and colouring of the edges of my border to frame it.  I also did some splatterings of acrylic paints. And for this project I added in some muslin and also some sequins to help keep my layout soft and pretty and to highlight those areas that were lacking.

And some more close-ups for you ........

Well that is all from me today.
Until next time take care.
